GETTING THERE:

Air Canada offers the most direct access to Vancouver to join cruises through Alaska. It operates daily two-class Boeing 767 services from Sydney, via Honolulu, to Vancouver. Fares vary seasonally but are the same from Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra. Air Canada also offers Air Passes which permit discounted travel to other centres in Canada and the USA, but they must be bought in Australia.

CRUISES:

Holland America Line will have seven of its five-star cruise ships operating 135 seven–day cruises through Alaska from early May until late September in 2003.

There’s a choice of roundtrip cruises from Vancouver or voyages from Vancouver to Anchorage and vice versa. Land tours of Alaska and the Yukon can be added to cruises.

In 2003 Cruise Spirit International will be marketing fly/cruise packages with Air Canada which will cost from around $3000. Details from Cruise Spirit International on 1300-131-633.

Cruise prices include all meals and entertainment, including sessions with on-board naturalists. There is a wide choice of shore tours. Holland America has a “No Tipping” policy and does not add surcharges to bar bills.

VISA:

Australian passport holders do not require a visa to visit Canada.
