The Minister for Environment, Land and Planning is happy to attend a public meeting about development in North Duffy-Holder, he said yesterday.
He was responding to a North-Duffy-Holder Residents Action Group letter which said no-one from the ACT Government had attended several public meetings on the issue in the past, unlike Liberal, Independent and Abolish Self-Government representatives.
Mr Wood said he had responded to an earlier request for information by giving representatives of residents access to planning officials. That offer stood and if that was not enough he would go to a meeting, just as he had gone to a public meeting about development in Watson.
A spokesperson for the group, Karen Jamison, wrote to Mr Wood: “”We are not professional lobbyists or experienced public speakers but individual members of the ACT electorate with a great many concerns about proposed development in our area. As such we would urge you to address these concerns in a public forum at an evening public meeting which would enable the majority of the residents to participate.”
