The ACT Liberal Party has a new director.

She is Dawn Crosby, of Farrer.

Mrs Crosby moved to Canberra six months ago when her husband, Lynton, was appointed deputy federal director of the party.

She said yesterday that it was an advantage to be fresh to Canberra because she could concentrate on organisational matters without being embroiled in policy.

Policy questions were for the elected MLAs. Her job was to give the organisational back-up necessary to make Kate Carnell Chief Minister at the February election.

“”I’m in Canberra for the long haul,” she said. “”We have two daughters at school and after two moves in three years we have promised to stay until the end of their schooling.”

Mrs Crosby replaces Gwen Wilcox who has stepped down to contest the election in the seat of Molonglo.

Mrs Crosby, a teacher by profession, was two years on the South Australian state executive of the party and in a voluntary capacity with the party in Queensland.

She has worked for Liberal members and senators and spent four years as public relations and marketing manager with the Australian Stock Exchange in Adelaide.
